Here in the hills of West Virginia, we are uniquely situated to be able to offer training and resources to the DC area. We are proud to offer several training classes geared (no pun intended) specifically to Overlanding beginners and those seeking a more technical understanding of the mechanics involved in off-highway driving and vehicle operating techniques.

Safe-Xtract is an industry leader in Vehicle Recovery education and innovation, based in New Mexico, USA. Their vehicle experience ranges broadly from two wheels up to regular size SUVs and pick-ups, to larger military and civilian vehicles. They have extensive expertise in the engineering and fabrication of expedition vehicles including standard SUVs & larger vehicles.
SX RECOVERY SYSTEM: Safe-Xtract’s relentless behind-the-scenes efforts have helped to define modern vehicle recovery standards. As part of their work, over the last few years they have worked with US SOCOM (Special Operations Command) elements to develop a proprietary Vehicle Recovery System that has three components: 1. KITS, 2. TRAINING and 3. the SX RECOVERY APP.

Tread Lightly! and its partners lead a national initiative to protect and enhance recreation access and opportunities by promoting outdoor ethics to heighten individuals’ sense of good stewardship. Tread Lightly!’s goal is to balance the needs of the people who enjoy outdoor recreation with our need to maintain healthy ecosystems and thriving populations of fish and wildlife. The scope of our work includes both land and water, and is representative of nearly every form of outdoor recreation including, but not limited to hunting, recreational shooting, fishing, and boating. We also have a niche in promoting safe and responsible use of motorized and mechanized vehicles in the outdoors.
We offer a myriad of programs, trainings, and educational material to help educate recreationists across the nation on the importance of treading lightly. As a professional certifying organization, the I4WDTA® firmly believes in promoting and striving to continually achieve the highest training standards possible in 4WD education. We have the only standards-based curriculum and development program, unique in the industry, that certifies 4WD trainers.

Off-Road Exploration is a non-profit association dedicated to preserving the back-roads and bi-ways of West Virginia and the surrounding states through legislation, education, and community based events.Description goes here

West Virginia Off Highway Vehicle Coalition (OHVC) is being created to support legislation and candidates that promote the advancement of OHV use in the state of West Virginia. The coalition will focus mainly on the full size vehicle aspect of the sport but all user groups are welcome.
The ultimate goal of this group is to form a common voice for our community and use that voice to shape legislation and back legislators who work to advance our common interests.Description goes here
